Marshmallows: like or dislike?
Welcome to Like or Dislike, where you get to share how you really feel about ingredients from the pantry, ingredients I'm thinking about adding to my pantry, other seasonal foods, and favorite cooking gear. The things you like are sure to find their way to the recipes here on The Perfect Pantry, so do tell.
July 4th is coming up soon, and that means it's time for the first s'mores of the season. Do you know s'mores: marshmallows toasted over a fire until they ooze, plus squares of Hershey milk chocolate, sandwiched between two graham crackers? S'mores are a summer tradition in my family, and without marshmallows, they simply would not exist. I've never tried to make my own marshmallows, but it sounds like fun because you can add colors and flavors. Leftover marshmallows go right on top of steaming mugs of hot cocoa. And here in New England, we are big fans of marshmallow fluff, which pairs with peanut butter on ooey-gooey sandwiches. Smiles all around. Are you a marshmallow lover? Do you toast them on sticks over campfires?

Marshmallows are not a preferred snack. However, the large ones are better than the mini mallows and are always better toasted, than straight from the bag.
Not a fan.
don't eat them very often, due to all that sugar, but i like them; altho i know they're the same, i prefer the large ones...they seem more "marshmallowy" ;0)
DISLIKE! I don't even like them much when they're toasted over a fire, and I don't like marshmallow fluff either.
Love them!!! I love them toasted over a fire and I have been know to toast a few over the gas flame on my stove!! And a fluffernutter sandwich is the best when you want to feel like a kid again!! Hand held comfort food!
Not a big fan.But i do like them in some things
Dislike!!! I dislike marshmallows almost as much as I despise bananas! 😖😖😖 and that game that they make kids play at camp stuffing marshmallows in your mouth was thee reason I didn't wanna go to camp!
This is my first ever dislike in response to your polls.
Marshmallows simply don't do anything for me. They're messy when cooked, don't taste like much, and are sticky. Like mosquitoes, they are unpleasant and have no discernible contribution to the planetary ecosystem.
Ugh. BIG dislike.
When camping, a s'more is a joy. Other than that, big NO!
Only way to eat them is on a s'more with raspberries. Just can't eat them plain.
Yuck.
mmmmmmmmmm......marshmallows
Love them! Was raised on Durkee's Marshmallow Fluff, and after living in the desert SW for about 20 years, it finally made its way here. My mom used to order cases of it, so she could make fudge, and I could make Fluffernutters.
I love a handful of mini marshmallows as a snack, but being a grown up, I don't indulge as often as I'd like to. The big ones are perfect for cocoa and s'mores.
The real game changer was making my own. I vowed that if I ever bought a KitchenAid stand mixer, that they would be the first thing I'd make. They are deliriously easy and so much better than store bought. Even made a marshmallow lover out of my husband. I like customizing them for holidays; flavor them, color them, and cut them with cookie cutters. Sometimes dipped in chocolate, spicy, sweet, boozy...what's not to love?!
In s'mores, yes. Any other way, no.
Dislike. Very much.
I cherish memories of s'mores, and even better, marshmallows cooled after flaming and melting on a stick. Now I eat graham crackers with peanut butter and jam....
I am horrified by the story of marshmallow stuffing - it sounds like the worst kind of torture for a kid. How would a staff have allowed that! In years of camp I never heard of it. Too bad she didn't go to another camp.
