Dijon mustard: like or dislike?

Greypoupon

Welcome to Like or Dislike, where you get to share how you really feel about ingredients from the pantry, ingredients I'm thinking about adding to my pantry, other seasonal foods, and favorite cooking gear. The things you like are sure to find their way to the recipes here on The Perfect Pantry, so do tell.

In the house where I grew up, all mustard was yellow. Day-glo yellow, bright enough to spot a hot dog in a ballpark at midnight. I didn't know there was a whole world of mustard waiting for me. In my own house, the mustard of choice is Dijon. Yes, it's great on hot dogs, but it's also the secret, slightly sharp and tangy ingredient in my beef stews and marinara sauces, and I like to add a bit to mayonnaise-based chicken and pasta salads. Dijon also helps to emulsify my basic balsamic vinaigrette dressing. There are always two jars of Dijon, one grainy and one smooth, in the refrigerator. Remember the old TV commercial? Pardon me -- do you have any Grey Poupon?

Dijon mustard: like or dislike?

Last week: marshmallows. Who liked, and who disliked? Take a look.

dislike as a spread, like as an ingredient in a recipe.

I live in France, do I have a choice? I do in fact use Dijon mustard everyday for salad dressings and alike, however I do also have a store of other mustards, English , German and the yellow hotdog sauce.

like! we always have 3-4 kinds of mustard open at the same time in the fridge door, none of them last very long around here LOL i like to use it in dressings/vinaigrettes, as a flavor booster in dishes, dips, etc

Dijon mustard---like all sorts of ways.

I use many types of mustard, but Dijon mustard is my favorite and most often used.

I love Dijon, both as an ingredient in sauces, salad dressings, and marinades, and as a spread on sandwiches!

Like! Use often.

No thank you, no no no. I will shy away from recipes that have it listed as an ingredient. Even if it's a small amount......

Like it. It adds a special twist to recipes and makes a sandwich a little bit more "gourmet". I keep a bunch of mustards in my pantry....German, English and French. They make great pretzel dips!

Dijon is my favorite mustard. I, too, grew up with bright yellow hot dog mustard as the only mustard. But, even my mother discovered dijon and the bright yellow stuff disappeared from her house!

Like. We have many kinds of mustard on hand. It's safe to say we are not picky

I love to use it in vinaigrettes and sauces (or deviled eggs and potato salad, like I did last night!), and I do often use it on sandwiches but lately I've been preferring other mustards as spreads. Day-glo yellow is still what I turn to for hot dogs!

I like it, mostly as an ingredient in recipies such as vinaigrette salad dressing.

Love it. There is no day-glo yellow mustard in our home.

I live in France (in my mind!) and use Dijon mustard nearly daily. I keep more than one kind.... the American version (Grey Poupon), but also have Maille and Edmond Fallot-the horseradish version in my fridge most of the time. If I couldn't buy it, I'd have to make it!

Love it!

I love it! My little children also like it, even plain with bread, as spread.

My fridge door always has several mustards in it. Dijon is definitely there -- also lately whole-grain Dijon. Both are wonderful for all kinds of recipes. I'm a mayo-girl when it comes to sandwiches but I love mustard other places. Try dressing green beans with dijon, capers and butter. Yummmmm!
