Spaghetti: like or dislike?
Welcome to Like or Dislike, where you get to share how you really feel about ingredients from the pantry, ingredients I'm thinking about adding to my pantry, other seasonal foods, and favorite cooking gear. The things you like are sure to find their way to the recipes here on The Perfect Pantry, so do tell.
In the house where I grew up, all pasta was spaghetti, and all spaghetti came with meatballs. After "pasta" took over, and the local supermarkets stocked more shapes and sizes, spaghetti fell a bit out of favor. I don't know why; it's utterly twirlable, and loves almost any type of sauce. You don't even need meatballs with it, though that's a pretty terrific combination. I like to use spaghetti noodles in Asian stir-fry dishes, where they make a good substitute for lo mein noodles. How about you?

I love speghetti! I usually have it w a meat sauce as opposed to meatballs, but meatballs are delicious too! (My English Bulldog name is Meatball!) The real question is who adds the sauce to the noodles and who keeps them separate! This was a major debate among my friends when we rented a house in the mountains this past winter. I'm #TeamMixTheSauceWithTheNoodles Surprisingly... I was in the minority....
Love it!
I love spaghetti and macaroni! Some girls buy shoes, I buy all the fun pasta shapes!
Actually, any shape of pasta is great. And spaghetti is part of the rotation. I go for meat sauce rather than meat balls. Red sauce does not make it to the table very often, though.
Spaghetti the best!!
Spaghetti is comfort food for me. I love it. Meat sauce with ground beef and ground sausage.
Love it, a favorite from childhood.
spaghetti is just cool....it's what i grew up with, so, as a comfort food it has to be spaghetti! ;0) when i got married and the first time i made spaghetti for dinner, hubster looked at the platter of noodles and the bowl of sauce, said, "why's it separate?" LOL even to this day, i keep my sauce and pasta separated; to me (a texture person), leftover spaghetti with sauce can get a bit mushy. viva la spagitti!
Spaghetti, pasta you name it I LOVE it and it loves me too!! I like to doctor up can sauce with olive oil, butter(!), brown sugar, red pepper flakes, peppers, onion, and ground beef. Mix before it meets the plate or side by side, depends on my mood.
Love,Love,Love spaghetti and all pasta!!! Delicous, Nutritious, inexpensive, fun, versatile, and simple to prepare.....how many foods can say all that!!! : )
Spaghetti is my first choice for most dishes - it's the right texture, shape, and backdrop for almost any sauce, but especially the classic ones, like Meat Sauce, Marinara, Bolognese, Clam, Aioli. The only time I choose any other variety is when the recipe depends upon it - like lasagna or stuffed shells. I serve it both separate and mixed with sauce, depending on the dish. Generally, the heavier sauces work best ladled atop the pasta, while the lighter ones are better tossed with the pasta. I also prefer thin spaghetti over the standard, thicker type, but I don't like Angel Hair at all.
Love any size or shape of pasta--with or without meat.Do not like whole wheat pastas. Great for dinner when question is-"what's for dinner" & you don't have anything special.
Add olive oil garlic & shrimp if you have any & of course always tastes better with spicy red pepper!
It's terrific.
Enjoy.
What we love is a small serving of spaghetti with lots of homemade sauce, meatballs and freshly grated Parmesan. Mmmmh! A glass of good red wine, some crusty bread and a side salad make it even better.
I love Spaghetti with any kind of sauce, especially meat sauce. I also have a great recipe for spaghetti primavera, using zucchini, chopped tomatoes, and peas.
Mmmm, I love spaghetti and all kinds of pasta. We like meat sauce, too - browned ground beef with sautéed garlic, onions and bell peppers, a jar of sauce and Italian seasonings. I love meatballs, too, but that makes a relatively simple dish take too long.
Love it! The twirling of spaghetti around a fork adds so much to the eating experience.
I usually have spaghetti simple, in a homemade tomato sauce, with sautéed vegetables on the side.
I love spaghetti! My dad taught me to twirl it on a large spoon, and to this day, whenever I eat it, I think of him with his hand over mine, teaching me to twirl.
When I was a child, I loved spaghetti, sauce and meatballs - just not mixed up. My mother was wise, and after a while, I ate them like the rest of the family.
My taste now leans more to Asian noodles in soups, with stir fries,or with lots of veggies in a cold salad.
I now favor the short forms of pasta, like fusilli, that hold the sauce and don't slip off my fork.
My favorite part about eating spaghetti is slupring the noodles...but really - it gets coated so nicely with sauce, and is versatile. I use it sometimes in Asian noodle dishes and love it with a hearty sauce too.
I didn't like spaghetti growing up, but now I like all kinds of pasta. I like spaghetti noodles best with meatballs, with aglio e olio, or in spaghetti pie. For stir fry I use soba noodles.
