Coffee: like or dislike?

Coffee

Welcome to Like or Dislike, where you get to share how you really feel about ingredients from the pantry, ingredients I'm thinking about adding to my pantry, other seasonal foods, even favorite cooking gear. Do you like, dislike, love, crave, despise, wish for, use in your own kitchen? The things you like are sure to find their way to the recipes here on The Perfect Pantry, so do tell!

In my house, this week's Like or Dislike is what we call a no-brainer. Without my two cups of coffee every morning, life as we know it would not exist. I drink it black these days, two cups, and if I have a third, I switch to decaf. I also love a cup of coffee at the end of a long dinner, when others might be enjoying a liquer or a glass of port. Coffee also finds its way into stews and baked chocolate goodies (not that I bake very often), where a little bit of coffee or espresso enhances and deepens the chocolate flavor. Tell us about your relationship with coffee. Or, are you a tea person?

Coffee: like or dislike?

Last week: Halloween candy. You're not huge fans, but I love the idea of baking with leftover candy.

Coffee-LOVE!

Oh dear!I am a coffee person by choice but a tea person by necessity. Over the last few years I developed a serious cafeine problem, I get really sick from caffeinated coffee. Sure there is decaf but even that is not always possible. AHHH! These days there is SO much wonderful coffee around, it's quite frustrating sometimes. But tea does soften the pain ... ;)

Like! Love! Can't imagine starting the day without my dark roast au lait.

Huge LIKE for coffee from me. For years I took it with sweetener and half and half but now I skip the sweetener. I have to admit the unsweetened coffee doesn't seem like quite as much of a treat, but I still enjoy my 2 cups every morning. I never drink de-caf though, not sure why.

Me gusta mucho cafe con leche!

Big like if it's good coffee. I am an Ethiopian Yirgacheffe snob and get mind from a local shop.

I also like Dave's coffee syrup. I never knew about coffee syrup until I happened to see this at Dave's Fresh Marketplace in Smithfield, RI. (Side note: It's also where I get the other RI delicacy I love - Cowboy Ketchup).

Love coffee. Drink almost two pots a day.

Love it, though I stop after one mug in the morning. It's not the caffeine; it's just that one is enough. I drink Starbucks Cafe Verrona black, no sugar. If I had to drink Dunkin Donuts I'd say Forget About It. Blech.

LOVE. also worship. Adore.

Espresso. French press. Mochapot. Drip. Vacuum.

Community Dark Roast. Illy Espresso. Sweet Maria's green beans roasted and ground at home.

Had caffe' cubano this morning made with Cafe' Bustelo.

I do not like coffee ,even the smell of it perking is a turn-off for me.Not sure why. I have tried different brands, and roasts with and without sweetners and milk.Just do not like coffee.

Having spent the first 8 years of my life in RI, I drank lots of milk with Autocrat coffee syrup. I wanted to drink real coffee, but my mom said that I was too young, but I could drink hot tea. So, I'm a tea fanatic, and don't like coffee for drinking. Autocrat spoiled me for coffee needing to be milky and sweet. Having typed that, I adore coffee flavored everything!

Love coffee in this house. We are retired and our favorite start to the day is sharing a pot of coffee with my hubby while watching the morning news and planning our day!

Coffee is too bitter for me! Tea, I gladly gulp down :-) My morning starts with ginger chai - my favorite kind of tea!

When Starbucks launched in India, my coffee-loving friends were ecstatic. All I have there is hot chocolate.

I do like the *flavor* of coffee when its intensity is tempered. Desserts with coffee - lovely!

Coffee is the one thing I refuse to give up.
Can go without sweets.
I'm fine with no alcohol
But stop drinking coffee . . . I really don't think so.
Dave

After being a hardcore coffee drinker for many years (I even ground the beans and made it by the cup), I gave up coffee several years ago. It was killing my stomach. Fortunately, or, unfortunately, after a bout of food poisoning from undercooked pork, I was able to give up coffee quite easily. I switched to chai tea which I love. Every now and then, I will have a decaf for a change-up but it's been chai tea every day for the past several years.

I am a coffee and water lady. I dearly love both of them. I do drink decaf after noon because caffeine keeps me awake. I don't care for tea at all. Only if there is absolutely nothing else to drink, will I take a glass of unsweetened iced tea.

I really love coffee flavor, but haven't drunk hot coffee in years. Bad breath ... jitters ... frequent pee: No thanks. But, the comfy sophistication of coffee ice cream ... tiramisu ... that delectable extra depth to all things chocolate: YES!

Love, Love, Love it. But decafe only these days. I also am a coffee snob. I like Starbucks and Peet's and that's it. The rest, don't bother.

Coffee? Yes. It's my version of crack. But I have to stop the intake of caffeine shortly after noon or I'll be awake all night. Love coffee ice cream. And after trying many different methods of making coffee, I've returned to the Chemex of my youth and I grind my own beans. Total perfection is when I can get fresh-roasted beans from Espresso Vivace in Seattle. The seasonal Winter Blend at Trader Joe's is interesting and I just found the first batch at the store today.

I move to Hawaii; only place in the United States of America where world class coffee is commercially grown and life style is so laid back here I stopped daily drinking of coffee because I don’t need the adrenalin boost! Nothing beats fresh picked coffee beans that have just been roasted, ground and brewed instead of those coffee beans ending up in a warehouse for months before shipping to the U.S.A. If I’m dinning out I’ll finish with a cup of fresh brewed Hawaiian coffee. Like coffee.

My vote is LIKE
Besides drinking coffee, i like using coffee as a rub and as a marinade or flavoring in food/desserts

Love, love, love coffee - black and strong. I have to stop drinking it no later than 2 pm, though, these days since it affects my sleep if I drink it later than that.

I do love coffee - even though I had to curtail my consumption I still have one cup in the morning - which I really look forward to.
