I have all these ingredients except vanilla pods.

Root, seed pod, nut, bark. I have all.

Finally I knew one! And I have them all, but only in their processed form except for nutmeg.

turmeric - root
cinnamon - bark
nutmeg - nut
vanilla - seed pod!

Turmeric - Root
Vanilla - Seed pod
Nutmeg - Nut
Cinnamon - Bark

I have all of them.

Yay! I knew them all. Or at least I think I do: turmeric - root, vanilla - seed pod, cinnamon - bark, nutmeg - nut.

My freezer 'pantry' has turmeric, galangal and ginger -- all related -- in their fresh form. The turmeric is bright orange and intense.

Nutmeg - Nut
Vanilla - Seed pod
Cinnamon - bark
Turmeric - root (by process of elimination)

Turmeric - root (we have it in powder form)
Vanilla - seed pod (we store it in the fridge)
Nutmeg - nut (we keep it in the pantry)
Cinnamon - bark (also in the pantry)

Is turmeric (and ginger, too) technically an underground stem and not botanically a root?

I knew this one! Always good to have an ego boost!
Thanks, Lydia!

I used logic to figure it out. I knew vanilla was a seed pod and nutmeg a nut,so cinnamon was a bark and tumeric had to be a root. I have three of the four in my pantry(if you count vanilla bean crush). I can't stand tumeric, which to me tastes like old musty trousers!
