I say false without looking at the clues, as quinoa is related to beets! I love it and keep it in the pantry all the time. I have not used the rice cooker to make it though. What ratio of liquid to water do you use and would a regular white rice setting on the rice cooker be correct for cooking the quinoa? Thanks! Just found your blog recently and I am enjoying it a lot.

False....beets it is. It is a green vegetable from which we eat the seed. It is not a grain.

False! I do have quinoa on hand - at the moment I'm the only person in my house who will eat it (working on that). :-)

Finally, one that I know the answer! False, quinoa is a seed.

Agreed.. Quinoa is a seed! And yes I have it and make it!

Quinoa related to beets, buckwheat related to rhubarb: doesn't this demonstrate how our mental categories don't always work?

False! You wouldn't have phrased the question that way if the immediately intuitive answer had been correct. (But I didn't know the answer before, so it is interesting.)

Is quinoa more diabetic friendly than white rice? How about compared to brown rice?

I just stumbled on this site when reading Cooking for Geeks -- looking forward to learning more here.

No clue, and no quinoa. But I've got beets and rice!
