The Pantry Alphabet: G

What is it?

Do you have this ingredient in your pantry?

Which of these recipes from The Perfect Pantry contains today's ingredient?

1. Thai green curry chicken with broccoli and mushrooms
2. Chocolate spice cookies
3. Cold sesame noodles

When you guess which recipe contains the ingredient, please leave only the number 1, 2 or 3 in the comments below. Please don't leave the name of the ingredient, so others can have fun guessing, too. And let us know if you have this in your pantry.

(Spoiler alert: Cut off a finger, and it will grow a new one.)

See you next Saturday, for the letter H.

Last week: fenugreek.

Why, it's # 3 of course!

3. I always have a supply of this and use it at least twice a week. There is similar tasting and looking "pantry item" that also begins with G.

I don't think I have in my pantry, but I'm off to see the recipes and find out.

#3, and I always have it on hand, because I love it!

#3, but my eyes are playing tricks on me. What is the greenish yellow item beneath G.

number 3.....very healthy for you!

#3! I really needed help with that one -- great photo (ie, deceptive). Not only do I have it and use it regularly, I have a healthy plant, thanks to the post on The Perfect Pantry... busy growing fingers.
(Now, will someone bake some of those #2 cookies to share?)

3. One of my favorite ingredients ever - I always have some in my pantry. (Now I want to bake Recipe #2!!!)

#3 and I do have some in the freezer.

#3 I've only started using this ingredient in its natural state the last several years. It's a magical ingredient in my opinion and is regarded as a super food by many.

I have to admit I was stumped and convinced I was looking a slice of Gherkin! But now I agree with everyone else and realized what it was and yes I keep a finger or two in my freezer!

If I had seen this before so many people confirmed it was #3 I would have been completely stumped. This is one of my favorite ingredients!

#3, and I keep mine in a zip-lock bag in the freezer.

I like all the information about cloves. Interesting that there was a chewing gum made out of cloves for Prohibition!

1, 2, & 3. I would use it in all. Right now I have it in 4 different forms in my pantry, and in many more items.

Yes, I believe it's recipe 3, and I too love this ingredient. Clever hint!

Yes it's #3. I love this also and have it in my fridge more often than not. This and lemon are my favorite fresh scents in cooking!
