Bookworm of the week
Susan of Food Blogga, a new and very lovely blog, is this week's Bookworm . She's from Providence, Rhode Island, and writes, "Growing up in an Italian family, food was central in everything we did from weddings to funerals to ordinary Sunday afternoons. Living away from home, I have come to realize that so many of my memories and emotions relate to eating and sharing food with those I love." Susan now blogs from her kitchen in Southern California.
UPDATE. Susan recommended:
- Bread Alone
- Food in History
- The Man Who Ate Everything
- Mostly True
- Talking with My Mouth Full
We'll have a new Bookworm every Saturday, for the next few months.

Susan, you might enjoy books by Peter Pezzelli. They are written with a Providence setting and are about "Italian family" style eating. The title I remember is "Every Sunday", an entertaining story.
"Bread Alone" is a good one! I enjoy reading about food when it's woven into a story, Let's hope there is more food fiction in the future . . .
I love your blog! Old Bay seasoning is a must in my kitchen... and I love all of your reviews... keep up the good work!
Lydia, thank you for your generous compliments and for graciously hosting Bookworm of the Week. It's a brilliant idea that adds another dimension to your wonderful blog.
Pauline, thanks for the recommendation. I will check out Pezzelli's books next time I'm at Borders.
Great list! I have not read any of these, and look forward particularly to reading "food in history" and the NPR one.
I've only read The Man Who Ate Everything, so it's great to find out about the other books. Thanks for the list, Susan! :)
