The Pantry Quiz #13
Multiple choice
Ah, gingerbread cookies. I don't love the process of baking them, the chilling and rolling and cutting, but I do love using lots of ingredients from the pantry. All but one of the following pantry ingredients are commonly used in gingerbread cookies. Which one is not?
1. Molasses
2. Cloves
3. Brown sugar
4. Crystallized ginger
5. Cinnamon
Please leave your answer in the comments, and let us know whether you have these ingredients in your pantry.
[Last week's answer: Typical mulling spices from the pantry include cinnamon, ginger, cloves, star anise, cardamom, nutmeg, and allspice.]

I'll say that #4 is not typically used, and yes, I have all 5 items.
I'm with you, I don't like the making of them, but I sure enjoy the eating. Anything with molasses gets two thumbs up from me!

I agree, crystalized ginger. It would make good 'face' materials.

Two people have said ginger, so I will guess that too, but truthfully I don't know the answer.

I think it's number 4 too! And I did before I saw the other comments:)

Who would buy crystallized ginger when it's so easy-peasy to make at a fraction of the cost?

#4 but I think it would make a nice addition to a more "rustic version" of these cookies!
